How to photograph your signature

  1. Sign 2–3 times on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen. Pick the neatest one.
  2. Place the paper on a flat surface near a window in daylight.
  3. Hold your phone directly above the paper so the signature is not slanted, and avoid your shadow.
  4. Take the photo, then crop tightly around the signature in the tool above.

Before you upload

  • Check the form's rules: note the KB limit (and minimum, if any), the pixel size and the file type. Most forms want JPG.
  • Keep it readable: look at the preview. If thin strokes have faded, lower the clean-up strength.
  • Pen colour: some forms ask specifically for black ink. Use "Make it black" if so.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a clean signature photo?

Sign with a dark pen (black or blue) on plain white paper. Photograph it from directly above in daylight, without your shadow on the page. Then crop tightly around the signature in the tool.

The paper still looks grey. What should I do?

Move the clean-up strength slider to the right and tap "Make my signature" again. If thin strokes start disappearing, move it back a little.

What is the transparent PNG for?

The PNG has no background, so you can place your signature on a PDF or document and only the ink shows. For online application forms, use the JPG.

Will my signature be cut off if I set an exact pixel size?

No. Your signature is fitted inside the size you choose and the extra space is filled with white, so nothing is ever cropped.

Is my signature uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your signature never leaves it, which is important for something this personal.
